Combining Mortal Kombat 11, Kombat Pack 1, the Aftermath medan 4d expansion, and Kombat Pack 2, Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate is the quintessential Mortal Kombat 11 experience. With two cinematic stories to play through, 37 fighters to get to grips with, and a bunch of new fatalities, stages, and brutalities to try out, Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate offers hours of gruesome fun. For those that have yet to play The Last of Us, maybe those that started with the TV show, this version is absolutely worth jumping into.

Where Outlaws’ quest design really excels, though, is in taking seemingly innocuous side objectives and spinning them out into exciting, multi-staged adventures that regularly took me by surprise. One memorable example of this is the quest that sends you to find an upgrade part, but one thing leads to another – and another and another and another – and suddenly you’re emerging from a sarlacc’s maw and straight into an exciting escape from a huge sandworm. It’s the lively, left-turn stretches like these where Outlaws really shines by stringing together countless Star Wars references and Uncharted-style moments of spectacular action and adventure, and there are plenty of quests like this that I’ve undertaken so far.

With FPS elements mixed with action-RPG mechanics, Cyberpunk 2077 offers a detailed open world and some of the best quest lines in modern gaming, period. It also includes all DLC, so it’s a great bargain for new players, especially. In terms of the game itself, Demon’s Souls is a lovingly faithful remake of FromSoftware’s cult classic, with some modern bells and whistles to help bring it up to speed. Players will find a challenging yet satisfying action RPG, with hulking bosses to fell, and labyrinthian dungeons to explore.

The writing in Disco Elysium is just so good and is some of the best you can experience in a PS5 game. It’s rich, detailed, gives a great sense of place, and makes for some very memorable interactions. The way Astro’s Playroom deploys the DualSense’s features and powers is unparalleled. From feeling different surfaces ‘underfoot’ to loading springy jumps with the triggers, it’s superb.

This War of Mine is a sobering survival sim where players take on the role of a group of civilians trying to survive a city under siege in a war-torn wasteland. Frostpunk and its follow-up, Frostpunk 2, are set in a harsh winter post-apocalypse where you are tasked with leading a city through a cascade of calamities. When it comes to polished, fast-paced platformers, few titles can hold a candle to Sonic X Shadow Generations. The game curates and improves on some of the best levels in Sonic history, while also giving us fresh Shadow levels that highlight his unique abilities. Get ready to feel the thrill of unlocking the Chaos Dash and the joy of flying across levels with Shadow’s Doom Wings. Shadow’s campaign also offers five additional hours of gameplay, which, when paired with the graphical and performance improvements from the Switch 2, make this an absolute steal.
